Reflexology & Stress Management
A study published in the International Journal of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork evaluated the effectiveness of fasciatherapy (Danis Bois Method), reflexology, hypnosis, and music therapy in managing daily stress among 308 participants. The non-randomized observational trial measured anxiety levels before and after a single session of each intervention, using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-Y). Results indicated that fasciatherapy, reflexology, and hypnosis significantly reduced anxiety levels, while music therapy and a resting control group showed lesser effects. The findings suggest that these therapies could serve as non-pharmacological and safe interventions for stress management.
Foot Reflexology & Pain Management
A double-blind randomized controlled trial investigated the impact of foot reflexology on pain and kinesiophobia (fear of movement) in patients after total knee arthroplasty. The study involved 40 patients, divided equally into intervention and control groups. The intervention group received foot reflexology, resulting in a more rapid decrease in postoperative pain levels, as measured by the Visual Analog Scale, compared to the control group. Additionally, the intervention group experienced reduced kinesiophobia and required less analgesic medication. These findings suggest that foot reflexology is an effective and safe method for managing pain and kinesiophobia in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty.
